The Cheetah anti-aircraft gun tank, flak tank for short, is an autonomous anti-aircraft tank fit for all weathers. Already designed and produced in the 1970’s, for a long time it formed a cornerstone of the German Armed Force’s air defences as well as those of other states. Phased out at the end of the 1990’s and beginning of the 2000’s, it is no longer operated by any of its original users. A large proportion of these anti-aircraft tanks were given to other armies after they were decommissioned. Its crew consisted of a commander, driver and a gunner. The MTU multi-fuel engine with its legendary 37.4 litre displacement generated 830 HP and meant that the Cheetah could achieve a maximum speed of up to 65 kilometres per hour with a range of around 550 kilometres when operated on-road.
Schuco has produced a miniature model of this Gepard to a scale of 1:87. Military models come with a metal body. As is expected of Schuco models, a number of key features have been reproduced exactly with the greatest attention to detail.
